In the 19th century, the search for health, particularly by those suffering from tuberculosis, was a factor in developing the West.  Dr. James Laws came to Fort Stanton near Lincoln in 1901, was cured, and stayed to minister to others, both at a tuberculosis sanitorium as well as doctoring patients in the surrounding area.  Enjoy his humorous and vivid accounts of the trials and tribulations of a country doctor in New Mexico in the early 1900s.
